Doctor Lilian Gutierrez

Spanish National Centre for Cardiovascular Research, Madrid (Spain)

As a result of her early interest in translational research, Lilian obtained a Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Engineering by the Anahuac University (Mexico) and a Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain). In 2018, Lilian joined the Advanced Development in Arrhythmia Mechanisms and Therapy laboratory at CNIC, under the direction of Dr. Filgueiras-Rama to study the implications of MRI with infarcted substrate in patients with VT episodes. Thanks to a predoctoral Grant, Lilian is currently undergoing her PhD training in the Cardiac Arrhythmia Laboratory with Dr. Jose Jalife as group leader. Here, she is studying the stratification of arrhythmogenic inheritable diseases analyzing with in silico and in vitro techniques the lethality and penetrance of particular cardiac KCNJ2 mutations, hence better understand the underlying mechanisms of VT and sudden cardiac detah.
