FESC Director of the Cardiac Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Unit of Policlinico University of Bari. Habilitated as full professor in Cardiology and Specialization Teacher. Past President of Italian Society of Cardio Vascular Imaging (SIECVI), founding fellow and Treasurer in the Board of the European Association of Cardio Vascular Imaging (EACVI), member of the ESC Congress Program Committee 2015-17. Major research in clinical echocardiographic, atrio-auricular function in atrial fibrillation and coronary function in acute and chronic coronary syndromes. Deputy Editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Echography, Associate editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine (2011-2016). Principal investigator of EMIT AF-VTE Trial, in steering committee for many international trials (eg Phoenix European Study, Postec trial); in the ESC Atrial Fibrillation Guidelines task force (2010). Author of more than 100 papers, 9 books of echo and 400 presentations in major international meetings
