Dr Abidin graduated in Medicine MB BS from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1995. He worked as junior doctor in the Northeast of England rotation and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1999. He undertook cardiology training in the North West rotation in 2001 and spent 3 years in subspecialty training in cardiovascular imaging; he underwent advanced echo fellowship at the Manchester Heart centre followed by cardiac MRI fellowship at the Yorkshire Heart centre.He was appointed as full time consultant cardiologist at Salford Royal University Teaching Hospital in 2009.
