Professor Jean-Philippe Empana is an MD, PhD, INSERM Research Director, who is currently co-heading an INSERM team in cardiovascular disease epidemiology at the Paris Cardiovascular Research Centre, Paris, France. He's also an academic chair in Global Health at the Université Paris Cité in the framework of the European Circle U project. Professor Empana has extensive experience in the field of cardiovascular disease risk prediction and the added value of novel biomarkers. Since 2016, he has been coordinating a large research program on the clinical relevance of primordial prevention for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and beyond. Professor Empana is currently coordinating the Paris Prospective Study III, a French community based prospective cohort of 10,000 volunteers with a minimum of 10-year follow-up where he's examining the clinical relevance of vascular aging determined via carotid-echo tracking.
