Biography
Dr. Hector R. Villarraga is a cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine Mayo Clinic. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Echocardiography. His research interests include evaluation of myocardial mechanical function by speckle tracking echocardiography (strain) in cardiomyopathies with normal ejection fraction and in cardio-oncology. His other interests include developing artificial intelligence platforms for the diagnosis of cardiomyopathies, as well as, the applicability of virtual reality for complex valve structural cases. He is a member of the Cardio-Oncology Section Leadership Council, an elected member of the CardioSurve research panel of American College of Cardiology, and a member of the Academic JACC Publications work group, member of American College of Cardiology, AHA, ASE, and American Society of Preventive Cardiology.
