Biography
Professor Sanjay Sharma is appointed at St George’s, University of London. His interests include sudden cardiac death in the young, cardiomyopathies and cardiovascular adaptation in athletes. He leads a large inherited cardiac diseases programme and is the director of the largest sports cardiology unit in the UK. He is the chairman of the expert cardiac committee for the FA and Medical Director of the London Marathon. He has previously held posts as chairman of the ESC sports cardiology nucleus, board member for EACP, congress programme committee member of the ESC, “Best of ESC” the ESC media committee. He was an International Associate Editor for the European Heart Journal and is currently on the editorial board for Heart journal. Working with the charitable organisation, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), he leads the largest cardiac screening programme in the UK for young individuals. Apart from St George's he also evaluated elite athletes at Cleveland Clinic London.
