Dr. Tami A. Martino, Ph.D. is a Professor of Biomedical Sciences, founding Director of the Centre for Cardiovascular Investigations, and the Distinguished Chair in Molecular Cardiovascular Research at the University of Guelph, Canada. She was awarded a Career Investigator Award of the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Circadian Medicine & Heart Health, and a Guelph Woman of Distinction for leadership and mentorship in STEM. Her internationally recognized research focuses on translating circadian biology into clinical applications. Her research investigates how circadian dysregulation contributes to myocardial infarction, cardiac hypertrophy, hypertension, and heart failure – leading causes of death. Moreover, her team explores therapies, using genetic, environmental, and pharmacologic strategies, leveraging the heart’s circadian biology to enhance disease recovery. Through this she is pioneering a new field - Circadian Medicine for Clinical Cardiology - leading to longer, healthier lives.
