I obtained the degree in Cardiology and a doctorate in Cardiopulmonary Pathophysiology at the University of Pisa, Italy. Since 2006, I am vice-director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Professor at the School of Specialization in Cardiology of Pisa University. I have authored 170 scientific papers, with >10,000 citations and an h index of 39. My main areas of interest include coronary interventions, transcatheter valvular interventions, and peripheral artery disease. I have been the Chairperson of the Working Group on Aorta and Peripheral Vascular of the ESC for the term 2016-2018.
