Biography
John Elsby Sanderson received his undergraduate medical training at Cambridge University and St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, University of London and postgraduate training in London and Oxford. While a research fellow at the Hammersmith hospital he worked for a year in Nigeria at the Ahmadu Bello University where he studied postpartum heart failure in Hausa women. He was Lecturer in cardiovascular medicine at Oxford from 1978-1981; 1981-83 Lecturer St Mary’s Hospital London-University of Nairobi collaborative program on heart failure and hypertension; 1983 to 1992 NHS Consultant Cardiologist; 1992 Senior lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, subsequently becoming Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics; 2005-07 Consultant Cardiologist and Hon Prof Keele University UK; 2007-09 Prof Clinical Cardiology Univ Birmingham UK; 2010-16 Prof Clinical skills Lab CUHK; 2017- Visiting Professor Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases.
