Doctor Maya Safarova

University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City (United States of America)

Beginning in medical school and through residency and postdoctoral training, I have had the privilege of conducting research in both basic science and clinical settings. My main research interest is inherited lipid disorders and related atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease traits, use of apheresis and novel treatment modalities. My post-doc was in genetic epidemiology of heritable disorders of lipoprotein metabolism and clinical informatics. Following completion of the Internal Medicine residency at Rutgers-Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey, I continued as a fellow at the University of Kansas. My ultimate goal is to establish a career as a clinician-investigator conducting translational research in the area of personalized Cardiovascular medicine, using informatics and genomics to gain insights into optimal management of heritable lipid disorders, coronary and peripheral vascular disease. I am interested in pursuing further clinical training in Cardio-Genomics.
