Current position: Co-Director of the Center for Advanced Metabolic Medicine and Nutrition. From 1997 until June 2014, Dr Alonso worked at the Lipid Clinic, Internal Medicine Department at Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Madrid, Spain. Co-founder of the Spanish Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) Foundation in 1998. From 2014 to February 2020, Dr Alonso worked as staff and was Head of the Department of Nutrition at Clinica Las Condes, Santiago de Chile. During this period, he was the coordinator of the local registry for patients with Familial Hypercholesterolemia. National Leader for the European Atherosclerosis Society FH Study Collaboration. Membership of the Scientific Committee of Spanish FH Foundation; member at large IAS, President Chilean Atherosclerosis Corp; Board Iberoamerican FH network association.
