Dr Katharine Bate completed her cardiology training at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia, and her PhD at the University of Sydney at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research. Katharine's PhD work focused on biomarker discovery in patients with early atherosclerosis, and she plans to use her research skills in precision and molecular cardiology to pursue a clinical academic career in cardiac electrophysiology, commencing fellowship in 2024. Katharine was born in Canada and speaks English - her French still needs a lot of work! - she was a chef in a previous life and continues to enjoy cooking adventurous dishes for her young family.
