Dr Kat Kott is a cardiology advanced trainee at Royal North Shore Hospital and is a PhD candidate working in the Figtree lab at the University of Sydney. Kat has an interest in novel cardiac biomarkers and risk factors, and she is extensively involved with the BioHEART project. She has been using BioHEART's imaging data to quantify the disease burden of participants, allowing phenotypic separation of those with early CAD from the truly healthy. Kat's current research focus is to study these patient populations using advanced haematological assays and mass cytometry, seeking to identify novel ways of identifying early atherosclerosis.
Circulating immune cell profiles detected by mass cytometry differ significantly between patients with predominantly calcified and predominantly non-calcified coronary atherosclerosis.
