Professor Jose Jalife

Dr. Jalife enjoys an international reputation as a leader in the study of cardiac arrhythmias. His work has contributed to the understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of life threatening arrhythmias. He has published over 400 original and review articles, and 14 books, including the internationally recognized Cardiac Electrophysiology: From Cell to Bedside, currently in its 7th edition. He has trained more than 120 scientists for research careers at almost every educational level. In 2001, he received the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American College of Cardiology. Other awards received include the Distinguished Scientist Award of the Heart Rhythm Society, and Mirowski Award of Excellence in Clinical Cardiology and Electrophysiology. In 2015, he was awarded a degree of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Valencia in Spain. In 2019, he received a University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center Director´s Lifetime Achievment Award.
