Doctor Jose Luis Ferreiro

José Luis Ferreiro (MD, PhD) gained his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona (Spain). After completing his training in Cardiology at the Bellvitge University Hospital (Barcelona, Spain), he underwent a 2-year research fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Lab and Center for Thrombosis Research at the University of Florida (Jacksonville, Florida, USA). Dr. Ferreiro has developed his clinical activity as interventional cardiologist and is currently Head of the Cardiology Department at the Juan XXIII University Hospital in Tarragona, Spain. He has focused his research activities on translational and clinical research in atherothrombotic diseases, with a particular interest in variability in response to antiplatelet agents and personalized antithrombotic therapy. He is presently Nucleus Member of the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis. Dr. Ferreiro has authored more than 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals (h-index 31) and several book chapters.
