Dr. Souza is a physician and PhD candidate at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. Her research interests include Noninvasive Cardiovascular Imaging, with a special focus on Nuclear Cardiology. She is currently working on the quantification of myocardial blood flow and flow reserve by single-photon emission computed tomography, using gamma cameras with solid-state detectors. Dr. Souza graduated cum laude from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is currently a PhD candidate at the same institution, as part of an MD-PhD dual-degree training program. She is a recipient of the Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Award and as a Fulbright scholar, has been developing research at the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in Boston, USA. Dr. Souza is also a recipient of the Science Without Borders Scholarship, from the Brazilian Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
