Doctor Willem de Boode

Willem de Boode is member of staff of the Department of Neonatology of the Radboudumc Amalia Children’s Hospital in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The focus of his research is on Advanced Haemodynamic Monitoring. In 2010 he defended his thesis, entitled “Neonatal hemodynamic monitoring. Validation in an experimental animal model”. In 2019 he has been appointed as professor for Neonatology at Radboud University/Radboudumc. Willem de Boode is council member of the European Society for Paediatric Research (ESPR) and secretary of the Section “Circulation, Oxygen Transport and Haematology” of the ESPR. He is chaiing the ESPR/ESN special interest group “Neonatologist Performed Echocardiography (NPE)”, that has formulated European guidelines regarding the use of echocardiography on the NICU. The next step is the implementation of a European certification and accreditation programme setting standards for competency and excellence in NPE. He is the project leader of the BeNeDuctus Trial.
