Dr. Gowdak (MD, PhD, FESC) is a Clinical Scientist at the Heart Institute in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He graduated in Medicine from the University of São Paulo Medical School, Brazil, in 1991. His Residency in Internal Medicine and Clinical Cardiology at the Heart Institute was followed by a fellowship at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Science, NIA, NIH, in Baltimore, USA (1997-99), working on therapeutic angiogenesis. Back in Brazil, he was appointed Clinical Scientist at the Laboratory of Genetics & Molecular Cardiology, Heart Institute. Having a particular interest in CAD, in 2008, he founded the Refractory Angina Research & Study Group, the first of its kind in Brazil. In 2013, he became a Fellow of the ESC. He has served as principal or sub-investigator in numerous national/international clinical trials/registries. In 2020, he became a Professor of Cardiology at the University of São Paulo. According to Google Scholar, he has more than 2,100 citations with an h-index of 24.
