Biography
Emma is an experienced clinical scientist who specialises in ultrasound heart scans. She trained and worked at the Cardiac Centre in Morriston Hospital (Wales) for 10 years before moving to a clinical academic role. Emma went on to complete a PhD in the Wales Heart Research Institute and is now working as an Associate Professor of Healthcare Science in the Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Life Science at Swansea University. Her current research is examining how diagnostic pathways may be improved by adding focused ultrasound scans at the point-of-care in community settings. This work is supported by a personal award from Health and Care Research Wales. Emma directs an innovative echo lab in an award-winning Health and Wellbeing Academy at Swansea University. Her lab supports NHS services and clinical trials as well as contributing to service innovation.
