Doctor Matthew Daniels

University of Oxford, Oxford (United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland)

Matt trained in basic science (Biochemistry & Genetics, University of Nottingham, First Class Hons) before moving to the University of Cambridge to complete the MB/PhD program where he developed an interest in live cell imaging and fluorescent protein technology through its application to inherited cancer; particularly the actomyosin ring dependent process of cytokinesis. He completed general medicine training in Papworth and Cambridge Universities NHS Hospital trust before serial clinical lecturer posts in Cambridge (Medicine & Metabolic Medicine) and then Oxford University (Cardiology) to complete general cardiology training finally subspecialising in structural intervention and inherited cardiac conditions. With support from the Wellcome Trust he was able to re-establish a basic science group utilising iPSc cardiomyocytes to model inherited cardiac conditions. His group’s main focus is the development and application of live cell imaging tools for cardiomyocytes.
