Hans Kirkegaard PhD, DMSc, DEAA, DLS is professor in pre-hospital and emergency medicine at Aarhus University, Denmark. He is director of Research Center for Emergency Medicine at Aarhus University Hospital and leader of the Pre-Hospital Research Unit at “Præhospitalet” Central Denmark Region. He is supervisor and co-supervisor for a number of PhD students and research year students in the emergency medicine field, in hospital as well as in the pre-hospital area. In the hospital setting, he was PI of a multinational RCT focusing on duration of target temperature management in out of hospital cardiac arrest patients, “The TTH48 Trial”. Hans is a specialist in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine. His main research area is in- and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, with special focus on comatose intensive care unit patients
