Biography
Dr Nieman is an associate professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine within the departments of Medicine/CVMed and Radiology. He obtained his MD from the Radboud University (Nijmegen, NL) and completed his PhD, internal medicine and cardiology fellowships at the Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam, NL), and an imaging fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA). Dr Nieman was a faculty at Erasmus MC (Cardiology/Radiology) between 2008 and 2016. His research focusses on the development, validation and clinical implementation of advanced imaging techniques, in particular cardiac CT in the context of ischemic heart disease. He has been the PI of several randomized controlled trials. Current research interests include myocardial perfusion imaging, CT-FFR and computer-augmented image interpretations. Dr Nieman serves on the editorial board of JACC CVI and is president (2020-2021) of the Society of Cardiovascular CT.
