Biography
Felix C. Tanner studied medicine at the University of Basel, Switzerland. He received his postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA and his clinical training at the University Hospital Bern, University Hospital Zürich, and Hammersmith Hospital London. He was appointed assistant professor at the University of Zürich in 2003, associate professor in 2010, and with tenure in 2016. He is head of echocardiography and vice chair of cardiology at the University Heart Center Zürich. He has a research focus on echocardiography in the clinical context and imaging in cardiomyopathies. He co-organizes the annual echocardiography courses in Zürich and Lucerne as well as the postgraduate course in heart failure imaging. He is a former president of the Swiss Society of Cardiology and served(s) in the ESC Education Committee and ESC Guidelines Committee.
