Antonia Sambola, MD, PhD, FESC, is consultant in acute cardiac care of the Department of Cardiology and intensive cardiac care at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron, Barcelona, Spain. She is a cardiologist with over 25 years of experience. She is coordinating a Masters Degree on Translational Cardiovascular Research in Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. Her main research interest covers basic research (mechanisms of thrombus formation and lysis) as well as clinical research (acute coronary syndromes and antithrombotic therapy in CV diseases), among others. Lastly, she is interested in cardiovascular disease in women, particularly in cardiac emergencies in women. She has published over 100 peer reviewed papers to date, she has organized national and international conferences.
