Biography
I work at the interface of rehabilitation medicine, cardiovascular prevention, exercise physiology, and digital health. I am a biologist by training (PhD in 2010) and worked on the mechanisms of atherosclerosis during my early career. I extended my field of research to sports and exercise sciences (PhD in 2021). I have been granted the venia legendi in experimental medicine (habilitation in 2019) and was appointed as an extraordinary professor (APL Professor) in 2025. My clinical research focuses on personalized cardiovascular rehabilitation programs and the development of AI and eHealth technologies to improve patient-centered care. My scientific work combines translational cardiovascular research with digital innovation, integrating physiological assessment, biomarkers, behavioral medicine, and machine learning approaches. A major research focus is the optimization of long-term secondary prevention through digital health platforms and individualized intervention strategies.
