Doctor Amitai Segev

Amitai is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He obtained his medical degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed internal medicine and cardiology training at Sheba Medical Center, achieving magna cum laude in both national board examinations. He subsequently completed a combined clinical and research fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation at UBC. His research focuses on congestion assessment and personalized diuretic treatment, particularly urinary sodium–guided therapy, point-of-care testing, and remote monitoring across acute, ambulatory, and home-based care. His broader clinical and research interests include myocarditis, pericardial disease, and cardiomyopathies. He leads the development of an inflammatory heart disease program at Vancouver General Hospital.
