Linda Joosten obtained her medical degree in 2016. In 2017, she started her PhD trajectory at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care of the University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht University, under the supervision of dr. Geert-Jan Geersing, dr. Sander van Doorn, prof. dr. Frans Rutten and prof. dr. Arno Hoes. Her research is about management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) in the community. Within this area of interest, she focuses on the FRAIL-AF multicenter randomized controlled trial in which she evaluates whether the impact of a strategy aimed at switching INR-guided VKA-management to a NOAC-based treatment strategy is superior in terms of the occurrence of major or clinically relevant non-major bleeding complications in frail elderly patients with AF. In 2021, she finished the Postgraduate Master of Epidemiology at Utrecht University. She is expected to complete her training in General Practice in November 2023 and her PhD trajectory in 2024.
