Biography
Dr Julee McDonagh is a Registered Nurse with more than 10 years of clinical experience in cardiology and a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Nursing at the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia. Her research program focuses on frailty and cardiovascular disease, particularly heart failure. She has co-authored several high-impact national and international consensus documents relating to frailty and heart failure, including 'Assessing and Managing Frailty in Advanced Heart Failure: An ISHLT Consensus Statement (2023)'. In 2025, she was co-first author of 'An Expert Opinion on the Management of Frailty in Heart Failure from the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance National Taskforce'. Dr McDonagh is currently the Coordinating Principal Investigator of the RESIST-HF randomised controlled trial, which is evaluating a home-based, nurse-coordinated resistance exercise program designed to improve frailty and reduce hospitalisations among adults with heart failure.
