Dr Jose A. Barrabes, MD, PhD, FESC, is a Consultant Cardiologist, the current Director of the Acute Cardiac Care Unit of the Cardiology Service at University Hospital Vall d'Hebron, Barcelona, and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. He has a special interest in acute coronary syndromes (ACS). He has a track record in basic aspects of ACS pathophysiology (microvascular damage after reperfusion, mechanisms of ischemic arrhythmias), in ACS diagnosis and prognostication by means of the ECG and biomarkers and in ACS registries. He has participated in several educational activities of the Acute Cardiac Care Association of the ESC.
