My work focuses on the underlying mechanisms that cause heart attacks, predominantly the causes of endothelial erosion. I have a particular focus on endothelial biology and the response of endothelial cells to elevated shear stress and endothelial dysfunction, to model the responses of the endothelium overlying stenotic atherosclerotic plaques. My interests include the molecular and cell components of mechanobiology and matrix biology. I work as part of a large multidisciplinary team including clinicians, biologists, bioinformaticians and engineers, with collaborators across the globe.
