Doctor Massar Omar

Dr. Massar Omar is a resident in cardiology, and serves as Principal Investigator at the Department of Cardiology, Odense University Hospital, and Steno Diabetes Center Odense, Denmark. She is a HFA committee member and HF Ambassador for Denmark. Her research focuses on HF across the full continuum of ejection fraction, with particular interest in HFpEF and its link to cardiometabolic disease and obesity-related cardiac dysfunction. She has a strong background in invasive hemodynamic phenotyping and clinical research. During her PhD (EMPIRE HF), she investigated SGLT2 inhibition in HFrEF. Her postdoctoral work at Mayo Clinic expanded this focus to HFpEF, using invasive exercise hemodynamics to study the interplay between HFpEF, diabetes, and cardiometabolic disease. Outside of her clinical and academic work, Dr. Omar enjoys running, art, gardening, and investments, with a passion for fine wine and gastronomy. She speaks Danish, English and Arabic.
