Biography
Victor Aboyans is the Head of the Dept. of Cardiology at the Dupuytren University Hospital in Limoges, France, since 2013.
After medical school at the University of Nice, and residency at the Limoges University, he has been graduated (MD) in 1996. He obtained a PhD in Public Health after a thesis on PAD epidemiology at Toulouse University, and spent a one-year research stay at the University of California, San Diego. He is Professor in Cardiology since 2011.
His research is mostly based on epidemiology and prevention of CVDs. He is a senior member of an INSERM-labelled research team. His main papers are focused on cardiovascular prevention, the management of vascular diseases and cardiac risk stratification through cardiac and vascular markers.
He co-chaired the 2014 ESC guidelines on aortic diseases, and recently chaired the 2017 ESC guidelines on management of peripheral arterial diseases. He wass the 2018-20 chair of the ESC working group of Aorta & Peripheral Vascular Dieases.
