Professor Ulrich Schaefer

Prof. Schäfer is a highly motivated, result-oriented senior health care professional with more than 15 years of experience in the field of medical device therapy for structural heart disease. Recognized as a dynamic leader, excellent teacher and enthusiastic protagonist of catheter-based treatment for cardiovascular disease, his research interests are clearly related to the field of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Interventional Cardiology. Within that scope, he has conducted multiple international workshops and courses, as well as more than 50 industry-driven multicenter trials as a site principle investigator or Co-PI. Currently, he is involved in various new technologies to treat mitral and tricuspid regurgitation with very limited early clinical and preclinical experience. Besides these activities, he is a reviewer in several journals, has authored chapters in books and has published more than 200 publications in reputed international peer reviewed journals.
