Dr. Martijn Hoes is a post-doctoral fellow at the department of Experimental Cardiology at the University Medical Center Groningen. He is particularly interested in the development of representative in vitro models that can recapitulate (aspects of) various cardiomyopathies. Dr. Hoes obtained his PhD in March 2019. The main focus of his research was studying cardiac diseases using in vitro models based on human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes. Current scientific endeavors aim to develop these in vitro models further as one of the first steps towards personalized medicine in the field of cardiology.
