President of the British Cardiac Society (2003-5) and co-chaired the Dept. of Health’s project which led to the roll out of primary PCI (2006-8). Clinical adviser to NICE on nSTEMI & UA (2007-10), and chaired STEMI (2011-13) guideline. Chaired International Council of the ACC (2008-13), on ACC Board of Trustees (2012-16), awarded MACC (2018) and Chair of ACC Governance Committee (2019-22). National Clinical Director for Heart Disease at the Department of Health (2010-12), and then NHS England (2013-19). Hon. professor in London (QMUL and UCL). Awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in Queen's New Year's Honours list 2019 for serviced to cardiology.
