Dominic A, Theuns PhD, is an assistant professor in cardiac devices at the Department of Cardiology, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam (NL). His clinical activities include follow-up and trouble-shooting of CIED patients,, and is responsible for the medical device outpatient clinic. He is an EHRA certified cardiac device specialist. For years, my clinical research is focussed on risk modeling of mortality in CIED patients, especially patients treated with a CRT-D. Over the years, he developed an international collaboration with Basel University (prof Schaer), Seattle University (prof Levy) and recently with Toronto University (dr Alba). He has (co)authored over 180 original articles in peer-reviewed journals. He published a book on analysis of stored EGMs in ICDs, contributed to several chapters, such as ESC textbook of Cardiology. He is involved in the development of the subcutaneous ICD since 2005 and validated the arrhythmia discrimination algorithm of this device.
