Associate Professor Yannick Taverne

Yannick Taverne is working as a congenital cardiac surgeon at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He is head of the Translational Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Lab and founder of the Lowlands Institute for Bioelectric Medicine. His research focusses on excitation-contraction-coupling within the subset of congenital heart disease and heart failure. Current projects include right ventricular form and function in congenital heart disease, ex-vivo heart perfusion as research model and as transplant adjunct (DCD heart donation), and the use of a biomimetic culture system using living myocardial slices.
