Biography
Alta (Aletta E.) Schutte is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; with a joint appointment as Co-Director of the Global Cardiovascular Program at the George Institute for Global Health, Sydney. She has extensive experience in working in clinical trials and population health in hypertension and cardiovascular disease with over 500 publications in the field. She has a keen interest in all initiatives that will contribute to improving blood pressure control globally.
She serves as Associate Editor of the AHA Journal, Hypertension. She is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and the Royal Society of South Africa; the Past President of the Southern African Hypertension Society (SAHS); Co-Chair of the National Hypertension Taskforce of Australia, and Past President of the International Society of Hypertension.
