Lukas Dekker (1967) was trained as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1996 he finalized his thesis on ischemia-induced arrhythmias cum laude. Since 2008 he works as a cardiologist-electrophysiologist in the Catharina Heart Center in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, the largest Dutch heart centre. His clinical as well as research focus is on catheter treatment of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardias. In 2019 he was appointed full professor at 2 departments at the University of Technology in Eindhoven, Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Technology. He is co-founder and board-member of the Eindhoven Medtech Innovation Center (e/MTIC) In addition, he also is a frontrunner in the implementation of value-based-healthcare. He is co-founder and board member of the Netherlands Heart Network (NHN).
