Prof. Brunner-La Rocca, educated in Switzerland, was working in senior positions at the Cardiology Departments of Zurich and Basel, Switzerland, before he moved to the Maastricht University Medical Centre in 2009. He is vice chairman of the department of Cardiology and head of the Heart Failure Clinic. During his career as cardiologist, he has been doing clinical research, which resulted in >350 scientific publications. The main topics of interest are biomarker research in chronic heart failure and eHelath. His research aims to individualise therapy and management of patients with chronic heart failure. Among other, he led the TIME-CHF study, which is one of the key NT-proBNP guidance trials in heart failure. His aim in eHealth is not only to individualise heart failure management but also to enable patients to perform real self-care, which may also include medical tasks.
