Biography
Rémi studied Physiology in Limoges and completed his Master's and PhD at Paris-Saclay University. Since then, Rémi has developed a strong interest in mechanobiology, spanning multiple scales and model systems. He began by identifying the first mechanosensitive channels in plants. In 2010, he joined Eric Honoré at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology in Sophia-Antipolis to investigate the role and significance of mechanotransduction in polycystic kidney disease. In 2013, he joined Peter Kohl to begin working on cardiac research. Since 2016, Rémi has headed the Mechanobiology Section at the Institute for Experimental Cardiovascular Medicine in Freiburg, Germany. With his group, he combines complementary mechanical and electrophysiological readouts to advance our understanding of the role of mechanosensitive channels in the heart.
