Dr. Howlett graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1989, completed Internal Medicine and Cardiology studies at Dalhousie University and University of Toronto. He practised Advanced Heart Failure at Dalhousie University and subsequently at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute and Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, where he remains as an Invasive, Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist. His current activities include clinical practice and investigation in the areas of heart failure, health care delivery & outcomes, and knowledge translation. He has long been involved in Clinical Practice Guideline/ Knowledge Translation at the national and international level and co-Chairs the Annual Canadian HF Update meeting and an Editor of the Merck Manual.
