Daniel C Andersson is an associate professor in physiology, senior lecturer at the Karolinska Institute (KI), and consultant cardiologist at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. He sub-specializes in heart failure cardiology. He is the principal investigator of a translational research laboratory that focuses on contractile mechanisms of the heart and skeletal muscle in the context of heart failure and physiological stressors eg inflammation. The laboratory uses experimental physiology and molecular biology tools. Moreover, in clinical studies Daniel C Andersson investigates how inflammatory/rheumatic diseases are associated to the risk of developing heart failure. Daniel C Andersson is faculty representative in the steering board of the medical doctor (MD) program at the KI. He is the chairman of the steering group for the local admission to the MD program at KI.
