Dr. Medilek graduated from Charles University in 1994. After finishing core training in general medicine he joined Dept. of Cardiothoracic Surgery where he gained his cardiology speciality. He introduced perioperative TOE monitoring enabling development of mitral valvuloplasties there. His further career was associated with in UK, where he was appointed to the post of non-invasive consultant cardiologist in Trafford General Hospital, Manchester in years 2007-2012. After extensive training he launched stress echo service to the site. He eventually moved back to the Czech Republic and he has been working at Dept. of Cardiology, University Hospital Hradec Kralove since then, from 2017 as clinical lead in echocardiography. Since 2015 he has been also involved in development of cardiac magnetic resonance. Dr. Medilek holds EACVI Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography, BSE Stress Echocardiography and EACVI CMR level 2 accreditations. He regularly presents at national cardiology meetings.
