Dr Pieter-Paul S. Robbertse is a researcher-clinician that strives to improve the understanding and expertise of cardiovascular related issues in a resource constrained South Africa. He completed his MBChB degree cum laude at Stellenbosch University in 2015. He has have combined his interest in cardiology and diagnostics with pressing HIV-related questions and completed his PhD dissertation titled "Prospective evaluation of the presence, profile and evolution of asymptomatic cardiovascular disease in treatment naïve, HIV infected patients using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging after initiation on antiretroviral therapy". He is EACVI CMR level II accredited and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Division of Cardiology at Tygerberg Hospital, Cape Town.
