Shelley Wood is a journalist, editor, and author. Based in Kelowna, Canada, she did her undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and her graduate degree in journalism at the University of British Columbia, specializing in medical reporting. She has worked as the Managing Editor at theheart.org, Senior Director, Global News for Medscape, the editor-in-chief of TCTMD.com and the Editorial Director for the Cardiovascular Research Foundation. Her work has won the National Institute for Heath Care Management's excellence in print journalism prize, the Online News Award for best specialty site journalism, two prizes from the Canadian Online Publishing Awards and Gold from the Association of Healthcare Publication Editors Awards. Alongside her career as a medical journalist and editor, Shelley is also the author of the fiction bestsellers, The Quintland Sisters and The Leap Year Gene/The Leap Year Gene of Kit McKinley.
