Biography
Prof. Mario Oliveira graduated from Lisbon University and trained in Cardiology at St Marta’s Hospital, in Lisbon. He has interest in electrophysiology, catheter ablation, cardiac implantable devices, and arrhythmia mechanisms. His post-graduation mastership was in Sports Medicine and his major research activities involve ANS, arrhythmogenesis and cardiac implantable devices. PhD thesis - Molecular and Electrophysiological Basis of Autonomic Nervous System Influence in the Genesis and Maintenance of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation. Author of >100 papers and member of several scientific societies. He is assistant professor of Physiology and PI at Cardiovascular Autonomic Lab at Lisbon Faculty of Medicine, Director of the Arrhythmology Unit of Santa Marta Hospital and head of department of cardiology at Hospital CUF, in Lisbon. He is past vice-president of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology and past-president of the Portuguese Association of Arrhythmology, Pacing and Electrophysiology.
