Biography
Dr Wanner's research is in the field of diabetic kidney disease, lipid disorders and rare kidney diseases and overall retarding the progression of atherosclerotic vascular diseases and loss of kidney function. He has been PI of the 4D study and steering committee member of the SHARP, the EMPA-REG Outcome, the EMPEROR and the EMPA KIDNEY trials aiming in slowing the progression of kidney disease and improving cardiovascular outcomes. Wanner has published more than scientific 1000 articles referenced in pubmed (Hirsch Index 111). He is the immediate Past President of the European Renal Association.
