Dr Ahmed I Elbatran, MD, MRCP is Lecturer of Cardiology at the Department of Cardiology, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. His clinical and research interests include catheter ablation of supraventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation, management of complications due to cardiac rhythm devices and heart failure. He graduated with honors from Ain Shams University in 2012 after achieving a number of academic awards. He did his cardiology training in Ain Shams University Hospital and spent 4 years training in the management of cardiac rhythm disorders as well as implantable devices. Dr Elbatran also spent one year at St George’s Hospital, London training in the catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, including study for a joint PhD degree on mapping and ablation of persistent atrial fibrillation. He received the Agustin Castellanos Award for outstanding advancement in clinical electrophysiology in developing countries in 2019
