Professor Ioannis Kanonidis

Hippokration General Hospital of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki (Greece)

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Studied medicin at the Aristotelian Univetsity of Thessaloniki and got his MD degree in 1979. He specialised in cardiology in Paris at the Henry Mondor and Bishat Hospitals. He also followed postgraduate studies in applied cardiovascular physiology, haemodynamics and congenital heart disease at the Universities Paris VII and Paris XII. He returned to Greece where he got his PHD in cardiology. Entered the Aristotelian University as faculty member (lecturer) and followed a university career. He became professor in 2012 and head of the 2nd department of Cardiology in 2914 which remains his actual position. His main interests: interventional cardiology, coronary care unit, heart failure.
