Biography
Sofie Gevaert, MD, PhD, FESC is a cardiologist (2000) with further specialization in intensive care (2003). She has clinical and research interest in acute cardiac disease, especially in women (e.g. pregnancy, SCAD, acute heart failure) and patients with cancer. She is responsible for the Coronary Care unit in the University Hospital of Ghent, Belgium where she is involved in several interdisciplinary clinics: pregnant patients with cardiac disease, patients with acute aortic disease, TAVI patients, patients with cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest patients, in order to provide excellent patient care. She was appointed as assistant professor in cardiology in 2016 (5%). She is an ex-officio board member of ACVC (acute cardiovascular care association of ESC), the council of Cardio-Oncology of the ESC and BIWAC (Belgian interdisciplinary working group on acute cardiology).
